Turfing and Lawn Care in Claines: Natural and Artificial
Lawns in Claines come in every size, from a modest square behind a period terrace to a wide family garden that backs onto neighbours. What they share is that the first impression of a new lawn depends almost entirely on the ground preparation, which is the part nobody sees once the grass is down.

We lay natural turf, install artificial grass and renovate worn lawns for homes in Claines, Worcester, Hallow and Fernhill Heath. Because gardens here vary, we choose the approach to suit how the space is used, not simply what is quickest to install.
Matching the lawn to the garden
Natural turf gives a soft, living surface and suits gardens with reasonable sun and room to play. Artificial grass suits small, shaded or heavily trodden gardens where grass never quite settles, provided it is laid on a proper base. Renovation works when the existing lawn has life in it but needs levelling, feeding or repair.
Edges are another place where suburban lawns win or lose. A straight, firm edge beside a border or path makes mowing quicker and stops grass creeping into the beds, and in small gardens it makes the whole space look sharper.
- Natural turf laid on prepared, levelled soil
- Artificial grass with a compacted, free-draining base
- Lawn renovation for moss, bare patches and hollows
- Neat edging against paths, patios and borders
Preparation and aftercare
Before turf goes down, we clear the old surface, correct levels and rake the soil fine. Turf is then laid tightly with staggered joints and trimmed to the edges. In the first few weeks it needs regular watering, and we explain what to do so the roots take properly.
Smaller family gardens often take a lot of wear in one area, such as by the back door or around a trampoline. A path or a stepped edge there can save the lawn. Shady corners under trees or beside walls are a common source of patchy grass, and in these places we may suggest a different surface instead of reseeding repeatedly. As Claines is effectively on our doorstep, we can usually fit a site visit in quickly and look at the lawn as it actually is.

Turfing & Lawns in Claines: common questions
How long before I can use a new lawn?
Turf usually needs a couple of weeks to knit down before regular use, depending on weather and watering. We will tell you when to stay off it and when to give it its first cut.
Is artificial grass a good choice for a small suburban garden?
It can be, especially where shade or heavy use defeats a natural lawn. It still needs brushing and occasional cleaning, so it is low maintenance rather than no maintenance.
