Defining garden areas
Edging, raised beds and borders separate lawn, planting and paving so everything stays tidy.

Walls, steps and raised features give a flat garden depth and interest.

Read the guideHardscaping: common questions
Can you build a retaining wall on a sloping garden?
Yes. We assess the slope and ground, build proper foundations and include drainage behind the wall. For taller walls, or where a wall supports a building, driveway or neighbouring land, we will say if engineering input is needed.
What is the difference between raised beds and planters?
Raised beds are built up from the ground and are usually larger, in timber, brick or block. Planters are smaller and often freestanding. We build raised beds to suit the space and what you want to grow.
Do you install decorative gravel and stone areas?
Yes. We prepare the base, lay a weed membrane, add suitable edging and finish with decorative gravel or stone, for example for seating areas, paths and borders.
Can hard landscaping help with a drainage problem?
Often. Correct falls, drainage channels and soakaways can move surface water away from problem areas, though some sites need more investigation first. We will tell you what we find.
