Hanley Castle Driveway Installers: Block Paving, Resin, Repairs
A rural drive is often a track with ambitions. It may run a long way from the lane to the house, serve more than one vehicle, and have to cope with wet ground for much of the winter. Getting the surface right is mostly a matter of what lies beneath it.

We install and repair driveways across Hanley Castle, Upton-upon-Severn, Hanley Swan, Callow End and Great Malvern, using block paving and resin bound finishes. Groundwork, drainage and laying are done by the same team.
Drainage before surface
Because the ground here can hold water, we look at drainage before suggesting a surface, so paving and lawns stay usable through the winter. On a long drive that might mean falls towards a verge, a soakaway at a low point or a channel across the gateway where water would otherwise run onto the lane.
Permeable surfaces are one answer, and a properly built base with planned outlets is the other. Which one suits depends on how the water moves across your plot, and on what the drive has to carry. A lightly used family drive and a track that takes deliveries or a trailer have very different needs, and the construction should reflect the heavier of the two.
- Falls set to carry water away from the house
- Channels or soakaways at low points
- A deep, compacted sub-base for heavier vehicles
- Edge restraints along open sides to stop spreading
Making a long drive work
Length brings its own decisions. Block paving can be laid in sections and repaired locally, which suits a long run. Resin bound gives a continuous, tidy finish where it is built on a sound base. Parking, passing places and a turning area near the house are worth marking out before any digging.
A gateway and any new entrance onto a road need thought: a dropped kerb needs separate consent from the highway authority, and paving over a large part of a front garden may need planning permission unless the surface is permeable, so check with your local council. During the free site visit we can walk the drive, note the weak spots and suggest a layout.

Driveways in Hanley Castle: common questions
Is block paving or resin better for a long rural drive?
Both can work, provided the base is right. Block paving is easy to repair in sections, while resin gives a seamless finish, so the choice depends on how you want the drive to look and be maintained.
Can my existing track be upgraded without starting from scratch?
Sometimes. If the underlying stone is sound it can form part of the new base, but soft or rutted sections usually need digging out first. We assess the condition on site before recommending a plan.
