Fencing in Crowle: Timber, Composite Panels and Gates
Boundaries on a village plot tend to be long. In Crowle, where gardens are generally good sized, a fence may run a considerable distance along the sides and back, so the choice of material and the quality of the posts matter more than they would on a small town garden.

We install timber and composite fencing, fit gates, and repair fences damaged by wind, rot or age. Our work includes taking down the old fence and clearing it away.
Timber or composite along a long boundary
Timber panels are a familiar, good value choice and can be stained to suit the garden. Composite needs very little maintenance and holds its colour, which is attractive when there is a lot of fence to look after. On a very long run, a good finish also depends on keeping panels level where the ground rises or falls.
In open countryside, fences catch the wind. Strong posts set properly in the ground are what keep a long run standing, so we pay particular attention to post depth and fixing.

Heights, ownership and agreeing the line
Permitted development generally allows fences up to 2 m at the back and sides and up to 1 m next to a highway or footpath, though listed buildings, conservation areas and some estates have different rules. Check with your local council if you are unsure. Panel style and colour can be chosen so a long boundary suits the house rather than dominating it.
Who owns a boundary depends on your title deeds, so it is worth talking to neighbours before work starts. Ask us for a free site visit and we can measure up and advise.

Fencing in Crowle: common questions
Can you replace only part of a fence?
Yes. Where posts are sound, individual panels can be swapped. If the posts have rotted or the fence leans, replacing a whole section is usually more reliable than patching it. A short repair now can prevent the whole line failing in the next storm.
Do I need a gate as well as a fence?
Not always, but on a larger plot a side gate or field-style access can be very useful. We can fit a gate to match the fence and make sure the posts are strong enough to carry it. A well hung gate is also a security feature, so latches and hinges are worth getting right.
